Lauren Tarshis is the master of drawing her readers in from the very first page. This book did not disappoint! My 3rd through 5th grade students and I read it over the course of two weeks. We could have read it faster but I wanted to intersperse the reading with lessons on the ship and it's sinking, the geography and the science. It inspired quite a bit of explorational learning and encouraged my kiddos to choose new I Survived books to continue reading. This series is a gem, even for reluctant readers!
